Black Roller Shades

Black roller blinds are a great choice when your blinds are going to be opened and closed a lot. They are stylish and practical but also can be a lot cheaper than conventional window blinds. They can also be much more durable than other types of blinds because they don't have slats. That means they wont bend and possibly start to pull away at their fastening mechanism after extensive use.

Like the name suggests roller shades have an integral rolling mechanism. The roller mechanism fits in the top of the window and cloth or vinyl is attached between the top and bottom bars of the roller shades. The blind can then be drawn up into the mechanism, leaving the window almost completely uncovered, or lowered to any desired height to create a total or partial block to outside light. In a normal roller shade the covering rolls out from the back, but a better alternative is a reverse rolling blind where the fabric rolls out from the front. This creates a more streamlined shape which can look a little better.

The four main types of black window shades available are blackout, semi-opaque, sheer and semi-sheer. Just as with other blinds, blackout shades are best if your goal is to make a room as dark as possible, especially during the day. If you want to get the maximum light stopping effect, choose the type that fits inside the window frame, so that there is absolutely no seepage from the sides. Semi-opaque are suitable for rooms in which some daylight coming in is acceptable. For instance rooms in which you do not sleep or a bedroom if your sleeping pattern is to get up when daylight arrives. These blinds often have two layers of fabric which mean that anyone outside looking in can see only vague shadows at best. Sheer roller shades are actually completely transparent and will let the maximum amount of light in.

Cassette head black roller shades have a decorative top section that keeps the top bar out of sight. This feature (also known as a valance) can add an extra touch of class and style to your blind. You might also find black vinyl roller shades with a bottom pull, fancy fringes or scalloped edges. So there is bound to be a black roller shade which fits in perfectly with the style of your room, at a price to suit your budget.
